I survived another year of SXSW!!! I saw a lot of good music… and some not so good. (Kids, posturing on stage while staring at your laptop is not rock and roll.) I started off at my favorite bar, Lovejoys to see the Pierced Arrows (formally known as Dead Moon). From there, the 4 day party progressed. The only real downer was the passing of Alex Chilton two days before I got to see him with Big Star. I still tried to make the showcase as Dwight Twilley was playing, but SXSW and Antone’s decided to make it a “Badge Only” show. LAME! All in all a great week though. Bill Murray was in town bar tending at various venues and a vicious rumor was circulating about U2 playing on the roof of Star Bar. You never know what can happen during SXSW! Nothing has beat the time I saw Iggy Pop with the Stooges playing for free on the street. Nobody needed a badge!
